Periodically making over your home can be fun and inject a new lease of life into your space that wasn’t previously there.
According to a recent survey, around two thirds of people said they wanted to give their home a makeover.
On top of that:
- 76% of people think the layout of a room has an effect on how they feel.
- 72% said their bedroom makes them feel relaxed.
- 37% said their kitchen makes them feel creative.
- 30% said their garden makes them happy.
- 39% said redecorated walls had the biggest impact on the look and feel of a room, 18% said furniture, 17% said the arrangement of furniture, only 6% said the flooring.
- 29% said they’re most proud of their living room, with 35% also saying their living room best reflects their personality.
- Messy rooms affected female respondents more than males, 74% and 55%.
- Most people (35%) feel that their living room best reflects their personality. The younger age groups/students feel that their bedroom best reflects it.
- Carpet wins on preferred bedroom floor covering with nearly two thirds of people (66%) preferring it.
- Most people (25%) wouldn’t like guests to see their bedrooms.
- 65% find a messy room stressful.
- 36% of people clean and tidy their homes daily, 45% do it weekly.
- Money is the biggest barrier that prevents people from renovating their homes (50%) and the majority said that receiving a large sum of money would most inspire them to renovate (45%).
- 10% of people said that their home really needs work (27.1m households in UK, so that’s 2.71m!).
- 56% of people felt that their home could do with some TLC, whilst a further 10% said that their home really needs work.
